The public is being encouraged to spend a few hours towards greater public safety tonight by becoming a trained storm spotter.
The National Weather Service is offering free, no-reservation-needed storm spotter training tonight at the Sheboygan Falls Fire Department from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m.
Those attending will learn about severe weather safety, how to be severe weather aware, the details behind watches and warnings, and walk away as a trained National Weather Service Spotter.
The session is just one element of Severe Weather Awareness week. Another will be tomorrowโs statewide tornado drill, conducted both at 1:45 and 6:45 p.m., designed to provide a practice session for public safety agencies and the public they serve alike.
Those wanting more information on either of these can visit the ReadyWisconsin website.
