Lakeland University has tapped a well-known area leader to chair the corporation responsible for running its operations in Japan. Cory Bouck, the Global Director of Business & Culture Integration at Johnsonville Sausage, will be responsible for ensuring a location for Lakelandโs Tokyo campus and for compliance with Japanese laws through the corporation, LUJ Management. Lakeland is one of just two US universities with a Japan campus, and has been operating in Tokyo since 1991.
Cory Bouck is a 21-year veteran with Johnsonville Sausage, and is both a graduate of, and former leadership instructor at the US Naval Academy, and served as a Naval Flight Officer and Mission Commander. He served for two elected terms on the Sheboygan Common Council and is currently president of the Kohler Public School Board. Bouck also authored a book titled โThe lens of Leadership: Being the Leader Others WANT to Follow,โ which is now published in four languages.
Lakeland President, Beth Borgen, said that Bouckโs insight into the Asian market makes him an ideal fit to lead LUJM, indicating that he will be instrumental in efforts to expand its Asian presence.
Bouck was named a Lakeland Trustee in 2021, a role which he will continue.
