Fire lit up the sky south of Plymouth on Monday night as fire consumed a barn less than a mile out of town. The County Emergency Dispatch Center got the call at about 6:20 p.m., drawing response from nearly a dozen agencies and fire departments to a farm on County Highway โPPโ near Blueberry Lane.
The barn, which contained granary machinery and was occupied by cats, was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived. After the blaze was extinguished, 8 cats were found deceased. The barn and its equipment are likely a total loss; there were no other injuries reported. The Sheboygan County Fire Investigation Team says the most likely cause was faulty electrical equipment.
