Gloria M. Peterson, 78, of Sheboygan, Wisconsin, passed away on Sunday morning,
March 23, 2025, at the Rocky Knoll Health Care Center in Plymouth, Wisconsin.
Gloria was born and attended schools in Calumet, Michigan. On July 29, 1967, she
was united in marriage to Donald W. Peterson in Calumet. The newlyweds relocated to
Sheboygan in 1968 where Gloria was employed at various companies such as
Wisconsin Power & Light, First Interstate Bank, Norwest Bank, and ultimately retiring
from a long 20+ year career at Kohler Generator. While working, Gloria proudly raised
three boys, supported their education as a room mother, chaperoned school field trips,
served on multiple church committees and volunteered for annual St. Peter Claver
festivals.
Gloria walked through life with a gentle, but private strength. She cared for everyone
she met and put everyoneโs needs before her own. She was a great listener and loved
getting to know everything about you. Weather it was celebrating a family birthday,
gathering in the neighborโs yard for the annual corn roast, or making the 6-hour trek to
the Upper Peninsula of Michigan to visit family, she always made sure she baked
something to share, thought ahead to have the things others liked to eat or drink, and
showed she cared by being present. Her unwavering support of those she loved didnโt
need to be verbalized, we all felt it and were reminded of it when another hand-written
card showed up in your mailbox. Thatโs what we will miss the most.
Gloria is survived by her three sons, Mark (Lori) Peterson of Sheboygan, Chris (Tammy)
Peterson of Sheboygan, Erik Peterson and Mark Larson of Milwaukee; a step
granddaughter, Ashley (Mike) Brass; three brothers, Gerald Rota of Fulton, Michigan,
James Rota of Fulton, Michigan, Robert (Pat) Rota of Englewood, Colorado; a sister-in-
law Cheryl (James) Gherna of Neenah, Wisconsin, a brother-in-law Paul (Betty)
Peterson of Odessa, Washington, and many cherished nieces, nephews, friends,
neighbors, her bible study group ladies, and prior co-workers.
Gloriaโs wishes include a private burial and celebration of life with immediate family
members in Calumet, Michigan this summer to be reunited with her husband, Don.
Gloriaโs family would like to express their gratitude to the medical and hospice staff at
Aurora Hospital Sheboygan and to the many nurses with Sharon Richardson Hospice
and Rocky Knoll Health Care Center who supported her with care and compassion.
A memorial fund in Gloriaโs name has been established. Online condolences may be
