A high-speed chase winding through three southeast Wisconsin counties has culminated with an arrest and no injuries to anyone involved.
The Fond du Lac County Sheriff was notified by Washington County authorities just after 4 p.m. Tuesday that they had terminated pursuit of a vehicle fleeing northbound on I-41 nearing the county line around Highway 28, and requested that a stop be attempted. A Fond du Lac County Sergeant spotted the vehicle, now southbound on State Highway 175 in the Township of Byron and tried a stop, but that prompted the driver to speed up further, heading back into Dodge County and through Lomira. By now, the Sergeant was joined in the chase by a Dodge County Sheriffโs deputy while a third unit placed stop sticks in the road โ which the suspect spotted, sending him back in the other direction. But it wasnโt too long before the driver gave up the chase and was arrested.
The 31-year-old Menomonee Falls man behind the wheel is now behind the bars of the Fond du Lac County Jail on charges of 1st Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, Felony Fleeing and Eluding, Misdemeanor Bail Jumping, his 3rd OWI charge, and โ as it happens โ violating probation on a previous Felony Fleeing and Eluding offense.
