MINNEAPOLIS, MN (WHBL) – The Minnesota Gophers gave number-12 Wisconsin a scare but ultimately lost to the Badgers 74-67 at Williams Arena on Wednesday night.
Minnesota was within three with three-and-a-half minutes to play before Wisconsin pulled away.
John Blackwell led the Badgers in scoring with 25 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for a double-double. John Tonje added 18 points as the Badgers have won two-of-three and improved to 23-7.
Brennan Rigsby scored 18 points in the losing effort, while Lu’Cye Patterson finished with 15. The Gophers are tied for 11th place in the Big Ten with a 7-12 conference record and a 15-15 mark overall.
Wisconsin wraps up the regular season against Penn State on Saturday.
