A project described as a โfirst-of-its-kindโ in the United States is on track for a groundbreaking this Spring.
To be known as โLIVASUโ, the project by Dementia Innovations, a Sheboygan-based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is to be built in the Town of Wilson on Stahl Road just east of South Business Drive. The concept operates under a โliving as usualโ design that incorporates pocket neighborhoods of 10-14 small square-footage homes surrounding a village center. LIVASU is planned for 124 homes in all, with the village center featuring a restaurant, a theater, a chapel, a grocery and an atrium area. Couples can remain living together in their own home on the self-contained campus, with care and support available on-site.
Dementia Innovations says that a large capital campaign conducted over the past year enabled the organization to clear several critical thresholds, keeping the much-anticipated spring groundbreaking on schedule.
More capital needs to be raised in order to meet the $13.5 million project goal, and the fundraising will continue towards that end.
(Editorโs Note: In response to reader queries on the projectโs location, Dementia Innovations responded that it is to be located on Stahl Road, just east of South Business Drive.)
