If there’s any doubt that we are progressing towards warmer weather, consider that the season of road repair is now on the horizon as the City of Sheboygan announced its schedule of street resurfacing for 2025.
Streets and Sanitation Superintendent Joel Kolste said that the improvements are part of the City’s commitment to maintaining and enhancing Sheboygan’s road infrastructure, and should provide smoother road surfaces, extend the longevity of the streets, and improve overall drivability for residents and visitors alike. Also announced were the resurfacing of North 25th Street from Superior to North Avenue, as well as repairing damaged pavement on South 18th Street between Washington and Mead Avenues, and the installation of new traffic signals and pavement repairs at the intersection of North Taylor Drive and Wilgus Avenue.
Specific timelines have yet to be established and will be announced as planning progresses. Drivers can count on temporary traffic adjustments and detours, but Kolste said that they will aim to minimize any inconvenience.
Here is the list of projects released on Thursday by the Sheboygan DPW:
• South 20th Street – Georgia Avenue to Indiana Avenue
• Dillingham Avenue – South 8th Street to South 12th Street
• South 7th Street – Mead Avenue to Union Avenue
• North 16th Street – Superior Avenue to Saemann Avenue
• Ontario Avenue – North 10th Street to North 12th Street
• North 11th Street – Ontario Avenue to Erie Avenue
• North 12th Street – Ontario Avenue to Erie Avenue
• Division Avenue – North 15th Street to North 17th Street
• Mehrtens Avenue – North 15th Street to Dead-End
Additionally, the Engineering Division will complete the following roadway projects identified in the 2025 Capital Improvements Program (CIP):
• North 25th Street – Superior Avenue to North Avenue
• South 18th Street – Washington Avenue to Mead Avenue
(This is not an asphalt overlay project. This project will replace damaged concrete pavement.)
• Intersection Improvement – North Taylor Drive and Wilgus Avenue – Installation of new traffic signals and pavement repairs.
