A vigorous weather system blew through Sheboygan County on Thursday, downing tree limbs and making control of high-profile vehicles a challenge. The winds picked up in the wake of a noon-hour cold front, and quickly reached tropical storm strength. By 2 p.m. the gusts had reached 56 mph at the airport, and then hit 62 mph shortly after 3:30. Wind advisories were extended by an hour as things didn’t settle quickly, and social media reported a felled tree blocking the road near the intersection of Highway 32 and “A”-South a few miles west of Oostburg overnight.
Winds settled quickly afterwards, though, and by morning they were between 10 and 15 mph. A sunny, quiet day is in store this Friday…a welcome turn as forecasters advise to prepare for another round of moderate snow on Saturday.
