
Robert “Bob” Bartell Ten Haken, 75, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at
Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee, WI.
Bob, beloved son of the late Ruben and Bernice (Ebbers) Ten Haken, was born on May 16, 1949,
in Grand Rapids, MI, to the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians. Adopted at the age of three, he
brought immense joy to family and friends. He had an incredible sense of humor, quick wit,
kind nature, and benevolence to people and animals, especially his Shih Tsu, Charolette.
After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the United States Naval Reserve as a See Bee.
Bob served his country honorably during the Vietnam war.
On July 3, 1971, he was united in marriage to Betty Jo Holland of Hazzard, Kentucky.
For many years, Bob worked at various milk and cheese processing plants in the Sheboygan
area as a plant operator and maintenance technician.
Throughout his life, he enjoyed camping, hunting, and fishing with his family and friends. When
he was not outdoors, he was in his shop working with his hands on his many home
improvement projects or watching NASCAR.
In addition to being proceeded in death by his natural and adoptive parents, Bob is survived by
his son Robert (Zasha) Ten Haken of Plymouth, WI; daughter Heather Ten Haken and her
partner, Ed Schneider, of Green Bay, WI; and granddaughter Vivien (Ben) Morris; his sisters
Mary (Larry) Spoerl; Beverly (Dale) Heinen; his brother Bruce and his partner Jocelyn Yost. He is
further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends, including his Navy
buddy Conrad Mitchel and the Murley brothers, Scott, and Jae.
Bob will be cremated and enshrined until an ash spreading ceremony can be held this spring on
tribal lands. There will be a dedication and prayer for him at the Hingham Church service on
February 9 th , starting at 9am.
