Thomas Anton Zimmermann, age 79, passed away peacefully at Rocky Knoll on January 4, 2025 after a
brief but courageous battle with cancer.
He was born on November 1, 1945 in Plymouth, Wisconsin, son of the late Edwin and Mildred (Jacobs)
Zimmermann.
He attended St. John the Baptist Catholic Grade School and graduated from Plymouth High School in
1964.
Tom served in the United States Army from 1965-1968 and was stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska.
In 1970, he married the love of his life Susan “Susie” McKinster in Plymouth, Wisconsin.
He went to school for meat cutting and worked for many years in this profession. He then began
working at Kohler and did maintenance at Woodlake Market and the other Kohler properties. He retired
from this in 2008.
Tom was an active member in the Glenbeulah American Legion Post 484, serving as the historian for 50
years.
He also enjoyed many years of trap shooting in the Kettle Moraine Traveling League with his son Tyler.
Tom’s other passion was hunting and fishing with family and friends. His most favorite place to be was
at the Cabin with his wife Susie, and sharing it with other family and friends. He especially cherished
seeing his son and family enjoy happy times together Up North four-wheeling, enjoying the outdoors
and all the wild life especially the bears, deer and turkeys. He also enjoyed his John Deer 420 tractor and
his granddaughters loved to see him on it and listen to the putt-putt of the tractor – so he became
“Grandpa Putt -Putt” and loved it!
Some of his retirement days were spent babysitting for his granddaughters, Aubrey & Ella, and watching
them grow up so quickly. He was blessed with a grandson named Landon Thomas, who he had the joy of
meeting before he passed, and two granddaughters. Meeting his grandson was his last wish, and God
granted him that wish. In addition to their grandchildren, Tom and Susie were also blessed with Chloe,
their son’s dog, who Tom became very attached to and she, too, loved being with him.
Tom is survived by his wife Susie; son Tyler (Brittany) Zimmermann and their children, Aubrey, Ella, and
Landon Thomas of Oostburg; sister-in-law Sharon Zimmermann; and many brothers and sisters-in-law,
nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; mother and father in law, Richard and Lila McKinster; sisters
Arlene (William) Renk, Laura (Arwin) Stricker; and brothers Art (Madeline) Zimmermann and Edward
Zimmermann.
