(Editors note: The original story suggested that suit had been filed; however that is not the case. The filing was a statutory action granted to Lt. Adams as a right to appeal a decision made by the Board of Police and Fire Commissioners. The action of the Board, per se, has not yet been released. WHBL News has been in contact with the City and will provide what information can be made public when it’s received. We regret any confusion this may have caused)
The City of Sheboygan is clarifying activities related to Sheboygan Police Lieutenant Bill Adams.
WHBL News on Tuesday incorrectly reported that Adams had filed suit against the City. The Wisconsin Circuit Court Access Program, which was the source of the document, had, in fact, reported the filing as an “administrative action”, and represents an appeal of disciplinary action taken against him.
Although the specific action taken was not disclosed, Wisconsin State Statutes quoted by the City suggest that Adams was appealing his suspension by a superior. The statutes say that the Board of Police and Fire Commissioners must consider the appeal, and “if it determines that the charges are not sustained, the accused, if suspended, shall be immediately reinstated and all lost pay restored. If the board determines that the charges are sustained, the accused, by order of the board, may be suspended or reduced in rank, or suspended and reduced in rank, or removed, as the good of the service may require.”
