Lake Effect Snow can be a game-changer for those living on Wisconsin’s eastern shores, but for those in and near the Sheboygan County coast, that doesn’t appear to be a risk this time around. Forecasters have kept a close eye on the possibility for heavy lake effect snows since late last week, and the ingredients are in place, but not so much for us.
The National Weather Service did add Milwaukee to its list of far southeastern Wisconsin Counties that will need to be aware of changing conditions as a band of the white stuff now appears to be setting up to fall on areas further inland than initially predicted, pushing the hazard area northward. As a result, Milwaukee, Racine and Kenosha Counties were issued an advisory for as much as 3-5” of snow that will be in effect until 4 p.m. today. Those traveling the I-94 corridor will be most involved in potentially slippery travel with lower visibility, although drivers on I-43 close to the lake in Ozaukee and Sheboygan Counties could encounter brief, brisk snow showers from time to time..
A few questions remain concerning totals and timing, but for now Sheboygan County will largely be watching this one from the outside.
