Judith Lynn Weltz (née Sack)
May 25, 1940 – January 5, 2025
Judith Lynn Weltz, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2025, surrounded by her family. Born in Brooklyn, New York, to George and Esther Sack (née Rolnik), Judith was later lovingly raised by her father and his second wife, Helen Sack (née Greenberg), following Esther’s passing.
A proud alumna of Midwood High School and SUNY Oneonta, Judith met the love of her life, Allen A. Weltz, while working as an associate at Orbach’s department store in Brooklyn, NY. The couple married in 1962 and began their family, welcoming their two eldest children, Elissa and Gregg, in New York. In 1971, they moved to Newton, Massachusetts, where their youngest daughter, Pamela, was born.
Judith and Allen became pillars of the Newton arts community, co-founding the New Philharmonia Orchestra. Through their dedication, they forged deep and enduring friendships that enriched their lives. Judith worked in the nursing and residential care industry for several years-working as the marketing director of Lasell Village in Newton, MA prior to her retirement.
Later in life, Judith and Allen relocated to Fairfax, Virginia, to be closer to their grandchildren. Their passion for the arts continued through their involvement with Arts by George at George Mason University and the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Wherever Judith went—whether to a new city, a local grocery store, or even during her final days—she had an extraordinary ability to connect with people and make lasting friendships.
Judith and Allen shared a remarkable 62 years of marriage, marked by profound love and devotion. Allen preceded her in death by six weeks, leaving a legacy of love and partnership that inspired all who knew them.
Judith will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by her children, Elissa Schwartz (Joshua), Gregg Weltz (Tracy Brunette), and Pamela Weltz (Mark Zilembo); her six cherished grandchildren, Jason Schwartz, Lauren Kasoff (Daniel), Olivia Weltz (Logan Rubio), Max Weltz, Chloe Zilembo, and Francesca Zilembo; and countless friends, caregivers, and acquaintances whose lives she touched.
Her legacy of love, kindness, and passion for life will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
The Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service has been entrusted with Judith’s arrangements.
