Preliminary November Unemployment Data from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, released on Thursday by the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development, showed little statistical change within Sheboygan County. Changes year-over-year were absent, while slight increases could be found month-over-month.
The Sheboygan Metropolitan Statistical Area showed a drop of 100 in the total workforce in November compared to this past October, while there were 500 more compared to November of ‘23, with 63,900 employed.
The Metro Area’s Unemployment rate was steady at 2.2% compared to both this past October, as well as last November.
The City of Sheboygan had slightly above the average unemployment rate among the 35 rated, sharing the #17 rank with three others at 2.5%. That’s the same as last November, and up one-tenth from October. The lowest rate was Madison’s 2%, while Racine experienced the highest unemployment rate at 4%.
As a County, Sheboygan displayed an across-the-board 2.2% unemployment rate, both month-over-month and year-over year. Highlights for the State of Wisconsin overall include:
• Metropolitan Statistical Areas: Preliminary November 2024 unemployment rates ticked up by 0.1 percentage points in seven metropolitan areas over the month and increased by 0.2 percentage points in one area while staying the same in the remaining four; rates decreased or stayed the same in 11 areas over the year.
• Municipalities: Preliminary November 2024 unemployment rates decreased or stayed the same in 16 of Wisconsin’s 35 largest cities over the month; rates decreased or stayed the same in 27 cities over the year.
• Counties: Preliminary November 2024 unemployment rates stayed the same in 12 counties over the month and increased elsewhere; rates decreased or stayed the same in 63 counties over the year.
