Aside from the late December snowstorm, things have been fairly dry so far this Winter in Sheboygan County – but we’re not technically in a drought.
Hydrologists with the National Weather Service say that “abnormally dry” conditions, but not technically a drought, are present in Sheboygan County. That follows what was shaping up to be the 4th wettest of the past 130 years that records have been kept. But moisture came in batches…most of it during May and June with much drier conditions following.
December turned out about one-third of an inch short of the normal 1.38” of moisture expected, and abnormally dry conditions have resulted. But for the time being, forecasters don’t expect drought conditions to show up.
