The possibility of light frozen precipitation has the National Weather Service issuing a Winter Weather Advisory for Sheboygan County along with most of the rest of Wisconsin. That’s the result of a rather weak system that’s also expected to put down another inch or two of snow, mostly to our north in Manitowoc and Calumet Counties. Less than an inch is expected here, and not before mixed precipitation first threatens to put down a light glaze on frozen road surfaces and sidewalks. With precipitation holding off until mid-morning and temperatures rising slightly above freezing, a large-scale ice event doesn’t appear likely. Nonetheless, roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous, and motorists should plan on slippery conditions that could impact the evening commute.
The Winter Weather Advisory will be in effect from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. when the system is expected to exit, taking with it any remaining precipitation and leaving Christmas Eve looking partly sunny. And with highs tomorrow staying very close to freezing, snow should stick around for a White Christmas, with high temps in the mid-30s expected on Wednesday.
