Gerald (Jerry) Louis Chopp, age 90, of Sheboygan, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2024
after a fall and brief hospitalization.
Jerry was born on April 17, 1934 in Sheboygan to the late Joseph and Helen (Keune) Chopp. He attended
Kohler High School and graduated from Lakeland College. On September 3, 1960 he married Diane
Suemnicht at Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church in Cascade. Enlisting out of high school, he proudly served as
a radio operator in the United States Air Force. From 1952 to 1956 he was stationed at several bases in
the states and abroad in Korea.
Jerry worked at H.G. Weber & Company for 37 years, where he retired as President in 1998. Employees
and colleagues fondly remember him as a humble, quiet leader who encouraged others to believe in the
potential he saw in them. He had an immense sense of pride in his work and an affinity for fostering
camaraderie and community. He was involved in the Plymouth Lions Club and Sheboygan Falls Jaycees, a
passionate singer in church choir, and a generous volunteer with his time to many community
organizations. Jerry loved biking, golfing, playing cards, and spending time with his family, especially up
north in Three Lakes. Jerry will be fondly remembered as an animated storyteller, for greeting everyone
with a smile on his face, always working on a list of projects, and enjoying his dessert.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Diane; children Jay (Nancie) Chopp, Tim (Michelle) Chopp, and Chris (Sue
Ellen) Chopp; grandchildren Lexi Chopp (Matt Toomey), Ty Chopp (Karla Solis Espinoza), Tucker Chopp,
MacKenzie Chopp Armstrong (Richie Armstrong), Noah Chopp (Brook Tracy), Caroline Chopp (Lucas
Hoffman), Joe (Aliese) Chopp, and Carson Chopp; sister Charmaine Kneevers and brother Joseph (Pat)
Chopp and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Earl Kneevers.
