A man wanted on 10 felony warrants was taken off the streets on Friday in Fond du Lac, but not until several vehicles were damaged and injuries sustained in the process.
The vehicle driven by a 33-year-old Milwaukee man had already been involved in at least three vehicle pursuits in Dane County, and the driver was known to possess a handgun. Once spotted and initially slipping out-of-sight, law enforcement saturated the area, found him again and followed at a distance on Johnson Street through the City of Fond du Lac, eventually leading to a dead-end street.
There, officers tried a high-risk traffic stop – to no avail – and the driver escaped being boxed in by ramming a parked vehicle, pushing it out of the way. The man drove over an embankment, through back yards and then onto Arndt Street at high speed, blowing multiple stop signs as he went. He eventually crashed into another vehicle, injuring that occupant, and then fled on foot where he was tased, and eventually taken into custody. But he wasn’t through fighting and had to be placed into a restraint device before being taken for treatment of minor injuries and arrested.
Besides the initial 10 warrants, the man now faces additional charges of Fleeing & Eluding, multiple counts of First-Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, Resisting and Obstructing, 7 counts of Felony Bail Jumping and Possession of THC.
