Frederick S. “Fred” Hocking, Jr., 69, passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at Aurora Medical Center in Sheboygan, surrounded by his family.
Born July 8, 1955, in Laurium, MI, Frederick was a son of the late Frederick and Doris Mills Hocking. He attended Sheboygan area schools and graduated from South High School in 1974. On June 24, 1995, he was united in marriage to Lisa M. Thiel at St. John’s United Church of Christ.
Fred worked as a maintenance mechanic for the Kohler Company for 41 years before his retirement. Prior to Kohler, he worked at the White Pine Copper Mine in Michigan. He was also a bartender in the Sheboygan area for 45 years. He enjoyed staying active by playing in many leagues including darts, pool, bowling, horseshoes, hardball, and softball. He loved spending time in nature hunting deer and fishing. He was always up for a game of sheepshead or cribbage, and cheering on the Green Bay Packers.
He is survived by his wife, Lisa; his children, Jennifer (Daniel) Reynolds, and Frederick Hocking, III, both of Sheboygan; his four grandchildren, Alex (Gwen Johnson) Reynolds, Antonio Hocking, Lewis Spivey-Hocking and Gemma Hocking; two great grandchildren, Aiden Hocking and Rue Caldwell; his sisters and brothers, Ann Glomski, Waldo, Joseph (Debbie) Hocking, Hingham, James (Renee) Hocking, Sheboygan, Jean (William) Worth, Waldo, and Janet (Robert) Petermann, Sheboygan; his sister-in-law, Lori (Thomas) Moon, Florence, WI; his aunt, Jean (Royce) Paquette, Milwaukee; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Besides his grandparents and parents, Frederick and Doris, he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Lorraine and Arlington Taylor; his brother-in-law, Jerome Glomski; and his niece, Cynthia Worth.
Funeral services for Fred will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at the Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 1132 Superior Avenue, Sheboygan. Family and friends are welcome at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
A memorial fund has been established in his name.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of Aurora Medical Center and Aurora Hospice for all of their loving care and support.
