Bonita “Bonnie” Fay (Ziebell) Cesar, 90, of Kiel, passed away peacefully at Caring Hands Assisted Living in
New Holstein on November 30, 2024, with her family by her side.
Bonnie was born on February 19, 1934, in Herington, Kansas, to Alta Mae Ziebell. She graduated
from Herington High School with the Class of 1952.
Bonnie was formerly married to Harley G. Streiber and together they had 4 children. They later moved
from Herington, KS to Kiel, WI where she worked at Tecumseh Products until they purchased Louis
Corners tavern and ran it as Bonnie and Harley’s Bar from 1967 to 1976.
Bonnie later became a CNA and while working at Sunny Ridge Nursing Home in Sheboygan met the
love of her life, James (Jim) Cesar. They were united in marriage on September 30, 1995, and shared
19 years together before Jim passed in 2014.
Bonnie was a very talented seamstress and enjoyed sewing and quilting and created many beautiful
quilts and other sewing projects. She also enjoyed baking, golfing, decorating for the holidays, and
tending to her many flower gardens. Above all she cherished the time she could share with her family.
She was a member of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, Kiel and was active in the Woman’s Guild.
Bonnie is survived by her children, Harley (Sonny) & Linda Streiber, Julie & Steve Matznick,
Terry & Cara Streiber, Cindy & Eric Lau; grandchildren, Scott Streiber, Lucas (Hannah) Streiber,
Michelle (Joe) Barrette, Brandon (Isabelle) Matznick, Zachary (Katie) Matznick, Sasha (Brian) Kofke,
Aric (Kathleen McTier) Streiber, Alicia Streiber, Logan Lau, Austin (Mariah) Lau;
Great Grandchildren, Morgan (Dustin Roethel) Karstaedt, Hawkin and Sterling Kofke, August and
Hattie Lau, Lennon Matznick, Cashen Streiber, with two more on the way. She is further survived by
step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband Jim Cesar, parents Alta and Eugene Tiede, father-in-law
and mother-in-law John and Angela Cesar.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at 12:30 p.m. at Meiselwitz-Vollstedt-
DeTroye Funeral Home (815 6 th Street, Kiel) with Rev. Nicole Herda officiating. Visitation will be
Saturday, at the funeral home, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:15 p.m., when brief family rites will be held.
Due to the Sleigh Bell Run, all traffic should enter from the north on 6 th Street.
The family would like to thank the staff at Caring Hands Assisted Living, Calumet County Home
Health Care and Hospice, Sheila Lackershire, and Rev. Nicole Herda for all the care and compassion
shown to Bonnie and her family.
