Fond du Lac County authorities are reporting another significant drug bust that began as a traffic stop, this one occurring last week Monday. That’s when, according to Sheriff Ryan Waldschmidt, a deputy stopped a vehicle for equipment violations on the city’s south side. A man and a woman, both 39 years old from Fond du Lac, were identified, with a check of the male passenger showing a criminal history dating back to 2001 on firearms and narcotic-related crimes. He was out on supervised release, while the driver had no history – until now.
K-9 Iro indicated drugs were present, confirmed with the discovery of numerous crack pipes and other paraphernalia along with reside of cocaine, as well as a loaded .380 handgun in the glove box. The female driver also confessed to concealing a large amount of cocaine within her person, and a body search at the jail recovered the nearly 1-ounce she had. The driver was released on $500 cash bond on drug-related charges, while the male passenger faces multiple violations and remains in jail under $3,000 cash bond.
