The pursuit of a stolen vehicle was successful for Manitowoc Sheriff’s officers as they arrested the three persons involved. The alert drawing attention to the vehicle came at 7:41 p.m. Sunday, with the report of a southbound 2012 Toyota Scion XB on I-43 that was stolen in Brown County.
A Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Deputy spotted the vehicle north of US Highway 10 and began the pursuit that stretched just over 3-1/2 miles. In advance of the car, other deputies successfully deployed spike strips near County Road JJ, stopping the car at the JJ off-ramp.
The three occupants then fled on foot, however a 57-year-old Milwaukee man was detained in a nearby field; a 15-year-old Green Bay juvenile was detained nearby, and an 18-year-old Milwaukee man who was identified as the driver was located by a drone and taken into custody after attempting to avoid capture on foot.
The 15-year-old was referred to juvenile authorities and released to a parent. The 57-year-old was released after posting bail on a charge of obstructing an officer. The 18-year-old driver is being held at the Manitowoc County Jail on charges of Knowingly Fleeing an Officer, Operating a Vehicle Without Owner Consent, and Resisting & Obstructing an Officer.
