The body of a 7-year-old Two Rivers boy who went missing on Saturday was recovered on Sunday morning. Two Rivers Police say Jacob Baer, who was on the autism spectrum, was playing outside when his parent lost sight of him and police were called, beginning an immediate search. A Missing and Endangered Alert was broadcast and a local alert called shortly after 4:30 Saturday afternoon, with multiple area agencies from Manitowoc, Brown and Sheboygan Counties participating along with members of the National Guard, Coast Guard, Wisconsin State Patrol and the DNR.
The search, which continued overnight Saturday, eventually turned up items identified as belonging to Jacob from waters of the West Twin River, and the DNR identified a possible location in 5-6 feet of water. Late Sunday morning, the body of the 7-year-old was recovered.
The incident remains under investigation, however thin ice is thought to be involved in Jacob’s demise.
