The 2024 Sheboygan County State and County Apportionment Form that details tax obligations has been sent to the City of Sheboygan. The Common Council will receive those documents on Monday night as it then determines its own revenue collection needs.
The total budget for Sheboygan County was set at $51,745,220.00, but that’s only one portion that will eventually show up on tax bills throughout the county, and those will vary. Municipalities – such as the City of Sheboygan that’s receiving the documents, along with other cities and villages, will add their own.
Other taxes in the apportionment document submitted by the County include a Special Charge of $1,105.86 to reimburse the State for charges related to mental commitments of Sheboygan County residents; $151,927.00 will be needed as required by the State for County Aid to Bridges or Culverts; another $1,837,926 will be assessed to support Sheboygan County’s portion of the Monarch Library System – that one is charged against taxable property in select townships and villages, others of which collect their own for that purpose.
In similar fashion as the County, the Lakeshore College portion of the property tax will be received by the Council on Monday. District-Wide, the College requires a $13,325,008.00 levy, with $2,485,498.68 of that coming from the City of Sheboygan itself.
