Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Deputies took two felons with extensive records into custody last week along with their drugs, a weapon and money.
The Sheriff said the stop was made on I-41 in the Town of Byron shortly before 10 p.m. last week Tuesday, initially for an equipment violation, but the odor of marijuana indicated there was more – much more – to be discovered from the 46-year-old Oshkosh man driving the vehicle and his 43-year-old passenger from Stevens Point. The male passenger had four separate active child support warrants in several Wisconsin counties while the driver had a non-extraditable warrant out of Iowa for possession of dangerous drugs. Neither had a valid license and both had extensive criminal histories concerning drugs, bail jumping and other crimes.
Searches revealed drugs hidden in the vehicle, in their shoes, and elsewhere on their persons. The eventual seizure involved 129 grams – or 4-1/2 ounces of cocaine, nearly 22 grams of marijuana, 6.6 grams of ecstasy, a loaded 9mm handgun, several hundred dollars in US currency and various illegally-purchased prescription pills. The two now await arraignment on the numerous charges involved.
