A string of devastating disasters has the American Red Cross looking for help addressing the many needs left in their wakes.
The Regional CEO of the American Red Cross of Wisconsin, Mark Thomas, said that the devastation of those disasters has created a crisis of care, even as the pace of the extreme weather that caused them shows no signs of slowing down. Thomas said that it’s important for those more fortunate to respond whether those disasters have happened at home or across the country, and to show the victims that they’re not facing it alone. He said that the need for food has nearly tripled the national 5-year- average, and the need for blood and blood products have also exceeded averages.
In order to address the needs, donations of blood, platelets, or monetary donations of any size are being sought. Those wishing to contribute in any way are being encouraged to visit RedCross.org to arrange for monetary donations or at RedCrossBlood.org in order to make appointments to donate blood.
