The field of candidates being considered to be Sheboygan’s next Chief of Police has been narrowed down to three. The Sheboygan Police and Fire Commission is conducting that search after current Chief Christopher Domagalski announced his retirement earlier this month. His last day in office will be January 20th after serving in that capacity since 2010.
The Police and Fire Commission held a special meeting this past Monday to consider a total of four candidates, among them Lieutenant William Adams, a 22-year employee of the department. Adams was dismissed from the list for not meeting the job requirements. Still being considered are Assistant Chief Kurt Zempel who joined the SPD in 2003, Captain Doug Teunissen who joined in 1997, and Lieutenant Joel Kuszynski who’s been with the department since 2001.
The Board of Police and Fire Commissioners will meet again on Tuesday to interview the final three in closed session, with the likely recommendation of the top candidate to take place afterwards.
