Bernice E. Walter, age 92, of Sheboygan passed away on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Pine
Haven Christian Communities.
She was born in Sheboygan on August 18, 1932, to the late John “George” and Emilie (Welsch)
Horn. She graduated from North High School. In 1951, Bernice was united in marriage to James
A. Reinl, and they shared two children together. In 1963, Bernice was united in marriage to
Frank Walter. He preceded her in death in 2000. She was a member of Good Shepherd
Lutheran Church. Bernice was a secretary for the Sheboygan Area Credit Union and also worked
in the offices at Thomas Industries, retiring in 1994. Bernice was an advocate for equal pay for
women, winning a lawsuit in 1965.
Bernice and her dear friend, Howie Schneider, enjoyed traveling with their group of friends. She
loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Linda Hulbert-Ertel of Cleveland, WI and Allen Reinl of Glendora,
CA; grandchildren, Tyler Hulbert, Jennifer (Fred) Eder, Daniel (Tara) Hulbert, Gabriel (Kerstin)
Hulbert, Andrew (Aimee) Hulbert, Noah (Stephanie) Hulbert, Matthew Reinl, Nathan Reinl,
and Aubree Reinl; 19 great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren and a brother,
Kenneth Horn; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Along with her parents and husband, Frank, Bernice was preceded in death by sons-in-law,
Thomas Hulbert and Timothy Ertel.
A graveside service for Bernice will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 8, 2024, at
Sunrise Memorial Gardens, 7411 Sauk Trail Rd in Sheboygan with Rev. Christian Gugel
officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Bernice’s name can be sent to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church,
1614 S 23 rd St. Sheboygan, WI 53081.
