Public protection agencies throughout the area are reminding their residents of good practices to follow in order to keep trick-or-treaters safe.
Among the most often-mentioned is that of wearing high-visibility, light-colored costumes, incorporating reflective tape, glow sticks or flashlights for extra attention. If an adult isn’t accompanying the young ones, authorities recommend always traveling as a group and never alone.
The usual street-crossing rules of looking both ways for traffic and always facing the traffic flow are recommended, and costumes need to allow for enough visibility for a good look at the surroundings.
And as usual, adults should inspect candy before eating and discard anything that’s unwrapped. Finally, never go into a stranger’s house, but stay on the porch.
