James Ryan Ungrodt, 80, of Kiel, passed away Saturday, October 12, 2024 at Homestead Health Services
in New Holstein. Jim was born April 21, 1944, in Medford, to the late Keith and Dagmar Ryan. He grew
up in Medford and graduated from the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point before attending the
University of Wisconsin Madison law school, where he earned his juris doctorate. On April 5, 1969, he
married the former Jacqualine Linchesky in Madison. The couple moved to Kiel in 1972. Jim started his
law practice, Ungrodt Law Office, where he worked until his retirement in 2020.
Jim was an avid golfer. He was a member at Quit Qui Oc golf course where he played on the Monday
night league, volunteered at the tournaments at Whistling Straits and enjoyed watching the sport on
television. He also enjoyed playing tennis. Jim was a longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church in New
Holstein and was a member of the Kiwanis Club.
In addition to his wife of 55 years, Jacqualine, Jim is survived by his two sons, Tim Ungrodt and Chris
(Lisa) Ungrodt and his two grandsons, Lucas Ungrodt and Dylan Ungrodt (special friend, Kyla Gordon).
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Judy (Robert) Evenson.
A memorial service for Jim will be held on Monday, October 28, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran
Church (1702 Vanburen St, New Holstein) with Rev. Azor Cigelske officiating. Visitation will be Monday,
at the church, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Please visit www.meiselwitzfh.com to send online
condolences. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established to be used for Zion Lutheran
Church.
The family would like to extend a special thank you the staff of Homestead Health Services and Calumet
County Hospice for the excellent care they gave Jim.
