Helping a child through a traumatic event sometimes takes something special. Thanks to a $10,000 contribution from AT&T’s “REACH-A-Child” program that’s supporting first responders across Wisconsin, the Sheboygan Fire and Police Departments now have that “something special”. They’ve received a total of 42 first responder bags filled with books and backpacks. The responders can use those items to redirect the children’s attention from the accident, fire, or other crisis they’ve endured, allowing them to experience an educational escape from their fears.
Robyn Gruner, the Director of External Affairs for AT&T Wisconsin and Cory Erickson of REACH-A-Child distributed those bags in-person on Thursday morning to Sheboygan Fire Chief Eric Montellano and Sheboygan Police Department Assistant Chief Kurt Zempel. Both departments will also receive an additional 250 new children’s books each to support upcoming community events.
