Three local golfers are among 40 professionals competing to be crowned the Wisconsin PGA’s Professional Champion during tournament play at the Wisconsin Country Club in Milwaukee. The 36-hole Stroke Play competition finished round-one on Monday, with at least one Sheboygan County player holding up a very favorable position going into today’s final round on the Par 72, 6659-yard course.
David Bach of Whistling Straits is tied for 8th place with Appleton’s Brian Brodell after going two-under-par for round one. Dan Hastreiter of Kohler’s Blackwolf Run shot a two-over-par 74 and is tied for 24th place with one other, while Pine Hills’ Matt Sabol completed the 36-hole first round tied with three others for 26th place. Mick Smith of Mick Smith Golf leads all players with a six-under-par 66.
The second and final round tees off at 8:30 this morning, with the champion crowned at 3 this afternoon.
