PARIS (Reuters) – Brazilian planemaker Embraer is set to secure an order for eight E190-E2 regional jets from Virgin Australia after winning a competition against the A220, the smallest model of Europe’s Airbus, industry sources said on Monday.
Embraer declined to comment and the Australian carrier could not immediately be reached outside business hours.
Such an order would be worth just under $300 million after typical industry discounts, according to estimated delivery prices from Cirium Ascend.
