
David Alvis Lehrke, age 74, of Glenbeulah, passed away at Aurora Medical Center of
Sheboygan County, surrounded by his loving family on his birthday on Monday, July 22, 2024.
He was born on a kitchen table in St. Anna, WI, on July 22, 1950, the middle son of the late
Norman Sr. and Ellen (Vogel) Lehrke. He attended school in Glenbeulah and graduated from
Plymouth Comprehensive High School in 1968. On September 6, 1969, he eloped with Margaret
Haen in Menominee, MI.
He worked for 41 years as a sink grinder in the foundry at Kohler Company.
He enjoyed spending time with his extended family and close friends going hunting, taking
annual fishing trips to Lake Winnibigoshish, MN, golfing across east central Wisconsin, bowling
(including a 300 game), camping at Fond du Lac County’s Columbia Park, ATVing and
snowmobiling all over northern Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula, watching all Wisconsin
sports, attending NASCAR races in Brooklyn, MI, and all things Ford Motor Company.
David is survived by his loving wife of nearly 55 years, Margaret Lehrke of Glenbeulah; his
three children: Maryanne (Jim) Justinger of Howards Grove, Matthew (Carrie) Lehrke of
Plymouth, and Mark (Jennifer) Lehrke of Glenbeulah; “six-pack” of granddaughters: Krista,
Tanya, Tessa, Alysha, Paige, and Emma; three great-granddaughters: Mackenzie, Ryleigh, and
Ella; brother: James (Linda) Lehrke of Sheboygan; sisters-in-law, Anna Slimmer of Howards
Grove and Janet Lehrke of Newton; brothers-in-law: Thomas Haen of Plymouth, Victor (Pat)
Haen of Sheboygan, George Haen of Arizona, Richard Haen of Sussex; and numerous nieces,
nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Norman Sr. and Ellen Lehrke, parents-in-law Roman
and Mildred Haen, brother Norman Lehrke, Jr., and brother-in-law Larry Slimmer.
A celebration of David’s life will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at the Suchon Funeral
Home in Plymouth. Visitation will take place from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM a funeral service to
follow at 1:00 PM. Rev. James Hoppert of Salem United Church of Christ will officiate. Burial
will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Plymouth.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established in David’s name.
The Suchon Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Plymouth is assisting the family.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Aurora Medical Center of
Sheboygan County for their compassionate care and a special thank you to the Aurora ICU and
Hospice staff, especially Melissa, Saul, Anna, Mary Lou, and Jayne.
