Not that one can avoid the noise of approaching elections, but they could be even closer than you think. The “Fall” primary actually takes place in just about one month, on August 13th, and the City of Sheboygan plans to hold absentee voting sessions at eight assisted living facilities beginning in less than two weeks.
City Clerk Meredith DeBruin announced the dates beginning with three sessions on Tuesday, July 23rd; another three on the 24th, and then a final two sessions on Friday, July 25th.
On those dates Special Voting Deputies appointed by the City of Sheboygan will administer absentee voting for residents of the facilities for the upcoming Partisan Primary Election and referendum. The residents of those facilities, just like any other qualified elector who’s unable to vote in-person on election day, can request an absentee ballot. Family members of residents will be allowed to be there during the vote.
Only observers from the Republican and Democrat Parties will be able to accompany the deputies to each facility holding the session to observe the process, and each party has to submit the observers’ names to the City Clerk or board of election commissioners no later than the close of business on the last business day prior to the visit.
