Timothy J. Hopkins passed away unexpectedly on June 19, 2024, at the age of 67.
Tim was born March 16, 1957, in Milwaukee, WI to Dorothy and John Fabritz. He graduated from West Milwaukee High School. Tim was a proficient painter and a gifted musician, guitarist and songwriter, to which Tim credits his music teacher, the legendary jazz guitarist, George Pritchett of Milwaukee. Tim’s music career included being a member of several bands with the stage name TimFab, to include Passing Strangers, along with Larry Collins and Scott Gallagher. Tim was a true entertainer, gracing the pianos at the American Club many weekends in the 1990’s and then anywhere he could sit down to play a tune. Tim often wrote songs for his daughters and was blessed to perform at each of their weddings. Tim enjoyed entertaining his grandchildren with music and painting. He was a lover of golf and the Green Bay Packers, and personally identified himself as an “athlete”. Tim’s faith was significant to his journey in life, especially with his battle of addiction. As his family, we choose to define Tim’s time with us by his creative genius and his unconditional love for his daughters, grandchildren, and family; not by his hardships.
Tim is survived by his daughters, Anna Ninković (Teo), Emily Hopkins (Baron Gottsacker), stepdaughter, Sonia Copeskey Tanna (Samir); four grandchildren, Niko and Nina Ninković, Enzo and Zoë Gottsacker, and twin step grandsons, Deven and Maxwell Tanna. Tim is further survived by his former wife, Judine Duerwaechter; niece Elizabeth Slane (Dustin) and nephew Russ Fabritz, Jr. (Kelly).
Tim was preceded in death by his parents, John R. Fabritz and Dorothy R. Fabritz (nee Gratteau); his brother, Russel J. Fabritz; and sister-in-law, Kathleen Fabritz (Kassulke).
Private family services will be held.
If you wish to honor Tim, please consider a donation to Lighthouse Recovery Community Center in Sheboygan (lighthouserecoverycommunitycenter.org). May his memory serve to help others in their own recovery. If you or someone you know is battling with addiction, please know that our family holds you in our hearts, as this disease is all consuming.
We are comforted knowing that Tim is truly free and experiencing limitless creative and artistic capabilities.
The Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service has been entrusted with Tim’s arrangements.
