Lakeland University has announced a new leader for its Cooperative Education program. Michael Keibler was hired to lead L-U’s award-winning program, bringing with him over 15 years of experience recruiting and placing students in experiential learning programs.
Keibler most recently served as executive director of cooperative education at Wayne State College in Wayne, Nebraska. He implemented that school’s inaugural experiential-based Career Scholars Cooperative Education Program, and collaborated with administration, leadership and state legislators there in securing millions of grant and state-funded dollars for student scholarships.
Keibler said that he’s impressed with Lakeland’s commitment to being an experiential education institution, and looks forward to growing and formalizing Lakeland’s co-op program. Lakeland President Beth Borgen said Keibler’s skill set comes to Lakeland at a perfect time, saying that he understands how to expand LU’s program to better serve both its students and employer partners.
