MILWAUKEE, WI (WHBL) – The Milwaukee Brewers beat the Chicago Cubs 5-1 on Monday afternoon to take game one of a three game series at American Family Field.
The Brewers erupted for five runs in the bottom of the eighth to break a scoreless tie and win the series opener. Willy Adames was 2-for-4, including a three-run homer during the eighth inning rally, while Jackson Chourio collected two hits and drove-in a run.
Bryan Hudson improved to 3-0 after tossing three strikeouts through two innings of relief.
The Brewers have won three of four to sit at 31-22.
Patrick Wisdom brought home Chicago’s lone run of the losing effort. Mark Leiter Jr. was charged with his third loss as the Cubs fell to 27-27.
Game two of the series takes place Tuesday night with pregame coverage on WHBL beginning at 6:05.
