The results of the April 2nd Election for Sheboygan Aldermanic District-10 will be subject to a recount.
Sheboygan City Clerk Meredith DeBruin announced the recall following a meeting of the city’s Municipal Board of Canvassers on Tuesday morning. That board met to reconcile, or verify, the April 2nd Presidential Preference Vote, Nonpartisan Election and Referendum in the City of Sheboygan.
The initial results of Sheboygan’s District-10 Aldermanic race between incumbent Joseph Heidemann and challenger Marcia Reinthaler gave the win to Heidemann 411-407. Wisconsin law allows a recount when the margin is 40 votes or less in a race with fewer than 4,000 votes, qualifying the results with a margin of 4 votes out of a total of 818. The State of Wisconsin also pays for recounts where the margin is less than 10 votes if 4,000 or fewer votes are cast, and so there will be no charge to the challenger.
City Clerk DeBruin has announced that the recount will take place in City Hall Room 106 at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 11, 2024.
