If the idea of spending the maximum time outdoors enjoying the Wisconsin summer for free in a State Park or Forest campground sounds like a good idea to you, then you might be a match for the Wisconsin DNR’s Volunteer Campground Host program.
The organization responsible for managing Wisconsin’s State Parks and Forests is looking for volunteers in all parts of the state who would stay at a park campsite and volunteer for a few hours each day. Duties include greeting campers and answering their questions, being a model camper and helping with daily operations, and cleaning campsites, bathrooms and facilities along with light maintenance.
Volunteer equestrian hosts are also needed at the Northern Kettle Moraine State Forest in Sheboygan and Fond du Lac Counties, as well as the Southern Unit, Governor Knowles State Forest and Wildcat Mountain State Park. Openings for equestrian opportunities are available from May through November, with a 1 to 2-month service period preferred.
