MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WRN) — The New Year will bring scrutiny of diversity, equity and inclusion programs within state government.
That’s the stated goal of Assembly Speaker Robin Vos.
He said, “I would like to have an audit of every DEI program in the state.”
The Republican leader, who succeeded in getting DEI programs dialed back in the UW System, says more needs to be learned.
“We have no idea in Department of Health Services, or the tech colleges or any other part of state government, if they’ve got some kind of crazy DEI criteria, that’s actually excluding people who would be entirely capable of doing a job because they don’t need some kind of ideological or ethnic prism,” said Vos.
Vos expects the process by the Legislature’s audit committee to take about a year.
