MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A Wisconsin inmate who made a bomb threat against then-Governor Scott Walker in 2018 was sentenced to three years of incarceration and two years of extended supervision.
Terrance Grissom, 53, plead guilty to Bomb Scare as a Habitual Criminal on Dec. 7 and received his sentence Thursday from Dane County Circuit Court Judge John Hyland. This sentence will run consecutive to Grissom’s current sentences.
According to the Wisconsin Department of Justice, a letter written by Grissom, a state prison inmate, was delivered in the mail to the Dane County District Attorney’s Office on April 9, 2018. Former Gov. Scott Walker was in office at the time.
The letter stated that there was a bomb in the Governor’s office that will go off at the push of a button and he will die. Capitol Police immediately evacuated the Governor’s Office, the Lt. Governor’s Office and the Attorney General’s Office in the capitol. A bomb sniffing canine was brought in and it was determined there was no threat.
Attorney General Josh Kaul said in a news release, “Those who make criminal threats to harm others must be held accountable. Bomb scares are serious offenses, and I’m thankful to everyone involved in the investigation and prosecution of this case.”
