MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WRN) — A recent court decision in Dane County re-affirmed that an 1849 state law does not ban abortions.
Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul says an ongoing lawsuit should put the issue to rest once once and for all.
“We can see by looking at what’s happening in Texas right now, where a woman is being prevented from getting the reproductive health care that she needs, how dangerous the situation was in Wisconsin,” said Kaul. “Fortunately, through this litigation, we’ve been able to make real progress.”
The decision has allowed Planned Parenthood to again offer abortion services.
Sheboygan County District Attorney Joel Urmanski plans to appeal, and the case could end up before the state Supreme Court, which now has a liberal majority.
