MILWAUKEE, WI (WTAQ-WRN) — Members of the State Senate showed skepticism on Wednesday about a plan to spend taxpayer money to upkeep American Family Field.
Madison Democrat Kelda Roys is concerned that any proposed development at the ballpark might cause the Brewers to back out of a deal.
“My concern is that the team has been so dead set against doing development, that it will be a waste of everyone’s time and money,” said Roys.
Roys said the Brewers can’t leave AmFam Field until 2030, unless they break their lease, so there’s no rush to give taxpayer money to the team.
She’s hoping a longer study can find good solutions to maintaining the ballpark.
