The Packers returned to work after a long weekend, following the long night against the Detroit Lions last Thursday at Lambeau Field. Head Coach Matt LaFleur conducted a short practice on Clark Hinkle Field to get his players stretched out after the mini-bye and some welcome reinforcements were in uniform. Chief among them was defensive back Eric Stokes who was activated off the Physically Unable to Perform List. He took part in his first team workout since last November when he suffered serious knee and ankle injuries at Detroit’s Ford Field. Stokes and the Packers will now have a three week window to get him ready to play again and get his onto the active roster.
Jaire Alexander is also back after missing the last two games with a bad back. Rookie tight end Luke Musgrave has emerged from the concussion protocol. After losing left tackle David Bakhtiari most likely for the season going on injured reserve, Pro Bowl left guard Elgton Jenkins delivered some hope to a beleaguered offensive line by getting back in uniform after suffering a sprained MCL in his left knee. Jenkins was sporting a brace to protect the knee but said after practice if felt good.
Players held out of the workout included safety Rudy Ford, linebacker De’Vondre Campbell and guard Jon Runyan. The team has another off day Wednesday before returning to practice on Thursday in advance on next Monday night’s date against the Las Vegas Raiders.
The Packers have added a linebacker to their practice squad, signing Christian Young on Tuesday. He played safety at the University of Arizona and went undrafted, signing with the Seattle Seahawks, taking part in training camp before getting released.
