DAIRY NEWS – Dairy producers have a unique opportunity to go behind the scenes and see how the milk produced on their farms is processed into the cheese, milk and dairy ingredients consumers in Wisconsin and around the world enjoy. The 2023 PDPW Dairy Processor Tour will include guided tours of three dairy processors and discussions to understand what drives their business and build even stronger partnerships with dairy producers.
The Dairy Processor Tour is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 26, leaving from Fox Valley Tech – Chilton Regional Center in Chilton, Wis., at 8:00 a.m. and returning at 3:45 p.m. Transportation, materials and lunch will be provided. Join dairy producers and industry professionals for a valuable day of tours, conversations and networking.
“As dairy producers, we work every day to produce a delicious, wholesome product that our customers need and want. Our customer — the processor — takes our raw product and creates a masterpiece,” said Brady Weiland, Columbus, Wis., dairy producer and PDPW board treasurer. “The PDPW Dairy Processor tours will be a great opportunity to see the facilities of three leading dairy processors to see how they produce top quality cheese, milk and dairy ingredients and learn more about the challenges they face.”
Tour stops will include:
- Henning’s Cheese, Kiel, Wis. See how the fourth-generation family cheese company produces award-winning cheddar and Colby cheeses and visit the on-site store and museum.
- Lamers Dairy, Appleton, Wis. The Lamers family has processed and sold top-quality milk for more than 100 years. Tour the facility that processes milk in plastic bottles and glass bottles, as well as whipping cream and half and half.
- Agropur, Luxemburg, Wis. The 85,000 square foot facility receives 3.75 million pounds of milk each day to make cheese and dairy ingredients like whey-protein isolate, permeate and more.
Space is limited and pre-registration is required. Registration and more details are available at www.pdpw.org or contact PDPW at 800-947-7379.
Up to 2.25 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) per tour are available from Dairy AdvanCE.
