MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WRN) — It’s a gun violence prevention day of action at the Capitol on Thursday.
Heidi Johnson is with WAVE; a statewide organization dedicated to preventing gun violence deaths and injuries. She says lots of organizations have collaborated on this initiative.
“Gun violence is a huge problem in our state, and Wisconsinites are tired of this violence. Wisconsinites want change,” said Johnson. “Wisconsinites understand that we know solutions that work when it comes to gun violence. And those solutions are very, very popular.”
Over 100 people from across the state will come together to the Capitol building to talk to their legislators about gun violence.
Advocates will be urging lawmakers to act on stronger gun laws, including expanded background checks for gun purchases.
