MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WRN) — Robin Vos is asking former members of the Wisconsin Supreme Court for guidance on the possible impeachment of Justice Janet Protasiewicz.
The Republican Assembly Speaker said that he is not ‘foaming at the mouth’ to impeach Protasiewicz – and would rather not impeach at all.
“I am asking a panel of former members of the state supreme court to review and advise what the criteria are for impeachment,” said Vos. “And to be able to go to the next step of this process if we’re not able to determine an off path.”
Vos did not say which former members of the court will be on the review panel.
Republicans want Protasiewicz to recuse from redistricting and abortion cases because of what she said during her campaign.
U.S. Supreme Court rulings have upheld that judges have the right to express judicial views while campaigning.
