In the quiet of the morning,
when the dew is fresh and new,
I find myself lost in thoughts,
dear sister, of you.
A beacon of strength,
a heart full of grace,
In our family’s sky,
you held the brightest space.
You graced us with laughter,
with love and with light,
In the darkest of hours,
you were our night.
Through battles and triumphs,
you stood tall and strong,
A melody of courage,
life’s most beautiful song.
A warrior you were,
in the face of the storm,
With a spirit unbroken,
and a love that was warm.
You fought with your might,
against cancer’s cruel hand,
Your bravery, dear sister,
was grander than grand.
Beneath the sun, the moon, and the vast, starry dome,
You’ve now found peace
in heaven’s embrace,
your new home.
Your journey on Earth
has come to rest,
But your love lives on
in the hearts you’ve blessed.
You’ve left behind seeds of your love,
so profound,
In the sparkling eyes of your children,
it’s found.
And in the laughter
of nieces and nephews, so dear,
We feel your presence,
we know you’re near.
Your essence remains
in every sunrise’s glow,
In every whisper of the wind,
in every snow.
In every song of the birds,
in every bloom of a flower,
You’re here with us,
every minute, every hour.
Dear sister, you’ve left a void
no one can fill,
But the love you’ve given us,
lives on still.
In the echoes of your laughter,
in the memories we share,
In every corner of our hearts,
you’re always there.
So, as we move forward,
we’ll carry your light,
In every dawn’s breaking,
in every night.
And we’ll remember, dear sister,
in each sunrise’s gleam,
You’re not just a memory,
but a never-ending dream.

Jazmen Corine Genske, age 29, of Howards Grove, WI passed away at Sharon Richardson Hospice in Sheboygan Falls, WI on September 6, 2023 after a long and courageous battle against cancer. Jazz’s spirit flew free as she left the ‘arms’ of those she loved here on earth to join her Savior in heaven.
Jazmen was born on March 28, 1994 to LaTanya Grover and Mark Clash at University Hospital in Chicago, IL. In Dec. of 2007, Jazmen was adopted by Lisa M. & Nick L. Genske. She attended Longfellow Elementary School and North High School in Sheboygan, WI until moving to Lenior, North Carolina in 2009 and graduating from Hibriten High School where she lettered in track and field. During Jazmen’s Junior year of High School in North Carolina (2012) she broke state and school records in the following events:
Outdoor 100 meter: 12.34
Outdoor 200 meter: 25.40
Indoor 55 meter: 7.29
Nationals in NY 60 meter: 7.84
High School Invitational 200 meter: 26.64
To date she still holds the school record in these events! Jazmen’s name and her still standing records will be lifted up in the Hibriten High School Hall of Fame this year for these outstanding accomplishments.
Her greatest achievement and the life event that made her heart overflow with joy was being the mother of her oldest son, Jamarion, her middle child, daughter Ja’Nayah, and her youngest child, son Jamarco. After Jazmen received her cancer diagnosis in 2018 she remained forever grateful to Tara and Karl Liesch for willingly taking all three of her children into their care and adopting them as their own on December 22, 2021. Jazmen felt blessed that she was given the opportunity to continue a relationship with her children through the Liesch’s grace and heartfelt willingness for that to happen. Her children’s Mother Tara, brought them for their final visit with Jazmen on Thursday, August 31st. As said, Jazmen felt truly blessed.
Jazmen is survived by her three children; Jamarion, Ja’Nayah and Jamarco;
Parents: Lisa & Nick Genske, LaTanya Grover and Mark Clash;
Sisters: Oshun Joy (Jeremy J. House) Grover, Korey (Jason) Wallendahl, Ashley Genske, Tiffany (Matt) Duff, and Joyce Genske.
Brothers: Dan Dziuba, Jeremy (Derrick) Genske-Soto, Derek (Kayce) Dziuba, Tim Genske, Joshua Genske, Johnnie Genske, Sean Grover, Joseph (Shaleka Thomas) Grover, Atero Sterling and Darious Sterling.
Jazmen also leaves surviving grandparents, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and more – too numerous to mention!
Jazmen’s dear friends – daily presence ‘Mama Bear’ Sue Kaiser and constant, consistent friend Julie ‘Boo’ Prahl are also surviving ‘family’ members.
Jazmen was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents: Lewis and Marion Sohn, Joynetta Mae Clayborn and Lawrence Grover as well as her great grandmother Elvira Corine Grover.
Jazmen, Lisa, LaTanya and Sue want to heartfully thank both Teresa and Jesse – Sharon Richardson Hospice R.N. and aide – who totally ‘got’ Jazz and Jazz’s caregivers and gave Jazz and her caregivers the respect and dignity they all deserved.
Jazmen, Lisa and Sue want to thank Aimee of Allay At Home Hospice for the same thing. Her empathy for Jazz showed in her care.
Jazmen and Sue thank Lorri Steward and Jason Knuth for believing in us and giving us the chance to prove it! Jazz had a HOME because of that and THAT was everything.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Ebenezer United Church of Christ, 3215 Saeman Ave., Sheboygan, WI on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at 3pm. Visitation will take place at Ebenezer from 1pm to the time of service at 3pm. Rev. Lorri Steward, Ebenezer UCC, will officiate.
All who want to lift up Jazmen’s life in JOY, are welcome to gather for this celebration.
The Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service has been entrusted with Jazz’s arrangements.
